As soon as you begin typing letters in the box, File Explorer immediately begins sifting through the search index for that text in folder names, file names, the contents of files, and file properties.
You start a search by using the Search box. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.
You can use the same way as you did on Windows 7, however you can also just enter the search text in the right box, and then in advanced option click on File Contents.
Open Indexing Options see above. If you want to include a folder but not all of its subfolders, select the folder, expand the folder, and then clear the check box next to any subfolder you don't want to be included in the index.

The index will automatically rebuild each time this setting is changed. For example, if you search for images of New York, you can filter them right within the operating system. Indexed Locations screen for Indexing Options inside of Windows 8.
You can add the extension to the list and by default Windows Search will use a plain text filter to search the file contents. Click or tap on Everywhere above the search box and select where you want to search.
Move your cursor towards the bottom right or top right corner of your screen and then move it up. Below, you see a summary of what is or scheduled to be indexed.
